The like-for-like replacement of timber windows and doors for a Care Home situated in the Historic Conservation Area of Felixstowe with improved energy-saving features.

Restoring the Charm, Enhancing the Performance

Being situated in the Felixstowe Conservation Area, our design had to adhere to planning requirements with full compliance, whilst upgrading security, thermal and acoustic efficiency.

We recently collaborated with a commercial facilities management company to transform the home for so many residents in a mental health and dementia specialist care home in Felixstowe. We replaced almost 90 timber windows across the entire home with upgraded energy-efficient features for warmth and sound privacy.

As it was located in a Conservation Area, we retained the original character, with a classic white finish and authentic 22mm glazing bars. Being a storm proof window the design already had a double rebated system.

We upgraded the design with modern glazing and a second concealed Deventer Gasket within the rebate providing another layer of thermal and acoustic insulation, optimising the comfort of the home for its residents, whilst providing massive energy savings at the same time.

A creative partnership with architects, facilities management and carers to maximise the home comfort for the residents, whilst maintaining heritage class and character.
